Blaine, WA – Colin Hawkins will officially file as a candidate for the Blaine City Council Ward 2 Position 4 seat.After nearly 20 years of local political involvement, Colin Hawkins has decided to run for City Council. He has spent the last two years as the Public Works Advisory Committee chairperson, and has been a board member since 2015.
His time on the committee has shown him that infrastructure planning is one of the most important problems facing Blaine today; especially with the upcoming growth into East Blaine.“My time on the Public Works Advisory Committee has been incredibly informative. I believe that what I have learned about the city infrastructure and utility systems will serve me well on the City Council.” Colin said. “As Blaine continues to grow, we will have to answer a lot of tough questions about the expansion of Blaines utilities.”Giving back to the community has always been important to Colin. In addition to his time on the Public Works Advisory Committee, he spent years helping organize the Blaine Christmas Giving Tree.He has also worked to raise money for the Marine Park Playground and the Blaine Food Bank as well as being involved with fundraising efforts for Habitat For Humanity. He is also a former board member and president of the Blaine Community Theater.“I plan on going door to door during this campaign season.” Colin said. “So if you see me riding bikes with my kids down your street, feel free to ask me questions, or let me know what you think the city should be focusing on.”Colin lives in the Salishan neighborhood with his wife Brandy and their two amazing kids. Colin has always had a lot of pride in his families history in Blaine, and with that history in mind, he hopes to help guide Blaine into the future.
