Russ Whidbee for Bellingham City Council At-Large
Hello, my name is Russ Whidbee and I am running for Bellingham City Council At-Large. I’m not a politician, I’m an accounting instructor and financial manager. I truly believe that we need someone on our Bellingham City Council that understands budgets, actuals and fiduciary responsibility. As a financial manager, I currently have millions of dollars of assets under-management and am highly regulated by multiple agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission. I would bring a financial lens to the City Council to ensure that we are being EFFECTIVE with the tax dollars from Bellingham citizens and businesses.
I moved from Brooklyn, NYC 43 years ago, and never left. I went to WWU eventually getting an accounting degree. I worked my way through college; driving buses in Alaska, working road crew in Whatcom County and drove for FedEX. I am no stranger to hard work and diligence. I raised my family here and now want to step-up my level of service to Bellingham. I am currently on the Bellingham Planning Commission, and have served on numerous other community and county and city boards and commissions. I’m endorsed by the Bellingham Firefighters IAFF L106, Bellingham Police Guild, Association of General Contractors and the Whatcom County, Association of Realtors, among many other groups. City Councilor Lisa Anderson, County Councilor Kaylee Galloway and Former County Executives Jack Louws and Pete Kremen have all endorsed me along with many other community leaders.
I welcome your questions and your support!
