Kamal Bhachu is the first
The next time I vote for a Democrat will be when hell freezes over. And thaws. I’ve never seen a bigger bunch of crooks, liars, thieves, etc. in my life, and I’ve been around a long time. They just get worse. Harris is the biggest joke of all, she knows nothing stands for nothing and could care less as long as she gets paid
Kamal
I was working in my garage when I met you and your lovely wife. I must tell you why I voted for you.
Many years ago (maybe 30) my wife and I were living in BC. We were watching a documentary on tv about crooked mechanics. A journalist had taken a car and had pulled off one of the spark plug wires and let it dangle in plain sight where anyone could see it. The engine would then run very rough. He hired a middle-aged woman to pull the car into a garage and ask the mechanic what it would cost to repair her car. They did this all across Canada. It took them several months to get an overall picture of mechanics reactions. The journalist said that the estimates ranged anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred dollars and on a couple of occasions the woman was told she needed a new engine. It was shameful.
Anyway, the journalist said that there was one bright spot in the report. He said that every time the woman pulled the car into a garage where the mechanic was from India the mechanic would simply plug the wire back in and tell the woman there was no charge! What an endorsement for mechanics from India and for people from India in general.
That is why I voted for you! Please run again!

PS. If you want term limits to pass, the bill would have to be delayed from becoming law for several years so that the incumbents that voted for the bill aren’t cutting their on throat.
I met Kamal and I believe in his visions. Get the career politicians out and lets save Whatcom County!! Kamal for us ALL!!!!!
I’ve personally known Kamal since high school and worked with him for several years. He is one of my favorite human beings! He is kind, hard working and intelligent with high moral standards. I’ve seen him stand up for himself and others for what is right and fair on several occasions. This guy will, by far, outshine anyone else. We need Kamal!
I am a lifelong resident of Whatcom County (except for my college years in Seattle). I had owned two businesses in Downtown Bellingham for 15 years. I have been reading about all the candidates. I like what Bob Burr has to say since I’m a big proponent of the environment. Our beautiful area of the country is being ruined by growth, traffic is horrible, and climate change needs to be addressed.
Saving Cherry Point is one thing but the people who work there are bully’s and they like harrassing people and neighborhoods with their loud large gas guzzling trucks.
Kamal’s statement is a pile of boilerplate cliché fluff with no policy specifics or concrete positions articulated at all. The only plan I can discern here is one not to offend or alienate any potential voters. Who wants a representative who either has no values or is concealing them?
Senior maintenance engineer is what I liked to be called when I worked at my father’s janitorial company. It’s a good “salt of the earth” job. Great work, but “leans republican” doesn’t suit me either. I’m sticking with incumbent Buchanan.
Jian,
In a hospital with complex systems for really clean air, sterile rooms and OR’s, oxygen and other gasses, fail-safe power and other systems, keeping it all running really can be an engineering level job, much more complex than cleaning.
Having spoke with Kamal I find him to be a common sense guy, Kind caring and well spoken, the people he works with speak highly of him as well.
I am going to say he is leaning Republican.
I support him 100% I think you should too.
Thought this was a non-partisan position. Why not pick the person who will do the best job to serve the majority of the County residents?
@Colleen Barry Buchanan helped preserve jobs for Cherry Point

I went to Bhachu’s website, hoping to find information on his campaign platform. But there is nothing shown — just a few platitudes and something about free ice cream in the park.
What, if any, positions does he have on various local issues? Why does Barry Buchanan need to be voted out of office?
Having “a deep desire to serve the people of Whatcom County” isn’t a platform — it’s a platitude.
Where is the substance?
