In a press release from the Ben Elenbaas for State Senate in the 42nd District campaign… the campaign states it has collected $32,000 for its campaign.

More from the press release:

Republicans in the 42nd face a set of very real challenges:

In 2018, Democrats won the House seat held by Representative Vincent Buys. In 2020, they won the other House seat held by Representative Luanne Van Werven.
Thanks in large part to a significant inflow of voters from King County, the 42nd is trending more liberal than the rest of the state and the rest of the country.
Sharon Shewmake, the Democrat’s choice to take on Doug Ericksen’s vacated Senate seat, has already amassed a war chest of over $63k. If we want to win, we can’t underestimate her.

In 2019, he won his county council race with 59% of the vote in the 5th District which includes Blaine and Ferndale and rural areas on the West side of I-5 . Additionally, he was the top vote-getter in a field of 48 candidates across Whatcom County vying to serve on the Charter Review Commission in 2014.
