Sheriff Elfo and Ryan Parks

Thank You Ryan Parks… helping get people safely to work with continued violent events outside the courthouse

Sheriff Elfo: “Thank You Allied Courthouse Security Screener Ryan Parks for assisting our Deputy Sheriff this morning outside the Courthouse Rotunda. The Deputy was assaulted by a person who flicked a cigarette in his face and grabbed his leg. The suspect further assaulted the Deputy as he attempted to arrest him. Mr. Parks immediately offered help and followed the Deputy’s direction in helping hold the suspect down on the ground until more law enforcement resources arrived. Your actions helped the Deputy avoid serious injury and the suspect being taken safely into custody. I was honored to award you a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office challenge coin. GREAT JOB and a BIG THANK YOU!!!

Bill Elfo, Sheriff

Fourth Corner NOTE:

We watched the last County Council Meeting on Zoom on the last Tuesday Council Meeting.  The Council Voted to Fund 3 Deputies that they had planned to defund earlier in the budget process but failed to fund at least 5 positions that were included in the prior year’s budget for managing the jail.  The Council did agree that the County Executive should prioritize these positions for funding if funds become available during the fiscal year.
