Dan Hammill for Bellingham City Council 3rd Ward
My name is Dan Hammill and I have been on Bellingham City Council since 2014. I believe strongly in public safety and voted to ban public drug use – including deadly fentanyl – in Bellingham. I also believe in providing interventions and treatment for people experiencing addiction and homelessness. That’s why I worked with Whatcom County Prosecutor Eric Richey to create the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program. That program works with over a hundred clients and has a high success rate in keeping people out of our criminal justice system.
I’m a leader in protecting our drinking water supply in Lake Whatcom and I led the way on protecting Galbraith Mountain – keeping it open to recreational users for generations to come. I have the support of the Association of General Contractors, Building Industry Association’s Affordable Housing Council, Bellingham/Whatcom Firefighters Local 106 and dozens of other groups and individuals.
Originally from Wisconsin, I’ve lived in Bellingham for 34 years. My wife Kelly Bashaw has served on Bellingham School Board for 16 years and we are neighbors in the Sunnyland neighborhood. I would be honored to have your vote in November.
