Whatcom: City of Ferndale City Council Position 7: Jon Mutchler

Jon Mutchler 2021 bio and statement for Voter Pamphlet

Jon Mutchler Candidate for City Council in Ferndale Position 7

Statement: Jon Mutchler has a solid record of results in Ferndale city government, unquestioned integrity, and a commitment to listening to citizens. As mayor, Jon Mutchler’s administration successfully partnered with Whatcom County, our state legislators, and Lummi Nation to secure over $43 million in grants for projects including the Thornton Street over-crossing, Pioneer Park Pathways (ADA-compliant sidewalks), and our sewer plant upgrade.

City government experience is essential as we tackle major projects: A new high school is being built. We’re upgrading an aging sewer plant. And the Thornton Street project is underway. Jon Mutchler’s city experience is critical now and unmatched by any other candidate.

We have a dedicated, but relatively inexperienced council. Jon Mutchler has nearly as much elective experience (11 years) as the cumulative experience of our seven current council members. The institutional and practical knowledge he offers would be an asset to Ferndale.

Jon Mutchler’s priorities for Ferndale include holding the line on escalating property tax increases, reducing the water/sewer utility tax, providing incentives to build affordable housing, and attracting desired businesses and services to Ferndale. For more information, visit www.VoteForJon.com.
