What County Health Department Head Erika Lautenbach on Leave
As many of you are aware, the Whatcom Health Dept. Director/Erika Lautenbach has been put ‘on leave’ by the County Executive/Satpal Sidhu. This is the latest scandal/upheaval in our community and it will be interesting to see how things unfold. And, it will be interesting to see what information is revealed through Public Records Requests and to see if liberal Council Members take this opportunity to oust Satpal Sidhu? Get your popcorn ready! We couldn’t make this up if we tried.
The Health Director is charged with managing everything from the Covid response to the Correction Facility( Sales tax for Justice Center) to the Children’s Fund (property taxes for daycares) to Fentanyl Crisis response to Housing First management to Cold Winter Shelter management…No wonder the staff capacity has grown. But have these programs been managed properly? Have the funds been dispersed appropriately and with transparency? I find it hard to believe that the Health Director went on medical leave, then was “put on leave” and her office was cleared out…. without something bigger happening behind the scenes. One thing I know, I’m tired of paying for the Council and Executive branches poor decisions. There should be an outside investigation immediately. The People deserve to know what’s happening with our money and resources before public officials play politics AGAIN with our tax dollars. And the last thing Erika should be getting is a payout on her way out the door.

Turns out all we needed was a new President!
We hope this will be investigated!! Washington politics are just as bad as the United States. The legislation passes things we vote against. This needs to change!!
